Open Call: Re-Wired Project

Sample artwork from RE-WIRED PROJECT

Individuals and groups who feel unheard, misunderstood, marginalized and invisible are invited to GATHER and COLLABORATE on art installations that amplify their voices and real-life experiences as part of the RE-WIRED PROJECT, a public art exhibition initiated by fashion designer and School of the Art Institute of Chicago professor Anke Loh, in collaboration with Access Living and PO Box / Facility in Rogers Park.

Loh is holding six OPEN-CALL community workshops in the next three months with PO Box in Rogers Park and Access Living.

"Whether queer, indigenous, immigrant, refugee, a senior citizen or a person with a disability, all of us are connected by our shared humanity. This truth is too often mired by conflict, inequality, greed, misunderstanding and a lack of empathy," says Loh. 'YOU CAN CREATE ART BY SHAPING OBJECTS AND WORDS OUT OF WIRE FOR THIS PUBLIC ART PROJECT. THIS IS A CHANCE TO EXPRESS YOURSELF AND HAVE A GREAT TIME DOING IT!"

Participants will use wire to make art and make their voices heard. CCRx is pleased to support RE-WIRED with materials including wire and artificial flowers. Your art will become part of a larger public art installation that will be shown at Facility this fall.
