We are accepting donations of clean, safe + working surplus
for Chicago teachers, cultural workers and non-profits.   
See our "Most Wanted Items" listed below.
Drop-Off your surplus at our warehouse at
2124 W. 82nd Place in Chicago on
Wednesdays 2-7pm, Friday and Saturday 12 - 2pm
or by appointment.

Items CCRx Accepts
We love to try and give any item a good home, but the materials on this list are in particular demand with the teachers and other groups we serve.

  • Paper of all sorts

  • Art books and magazines

  • Art supplies

  • Office supplies (scissors, binders, push pins, rulers, staplers, tape, envelopes, folders)

  • Power tools

  • Gears, screws, nuts

  • Keys

  • Audio/visual equipment

  • Theatrical lighting and clip lamps

  • Digital cameras and tripods

  • Computers (less than 5 years old)

  • Overhead projectors

  • Calculators

  • Folding tables and other furniture

  • Chairs (rolling office or folding)

Items CCRx Cannot Accept

It's hard to say "no thank you" to a donation. However, some items are unsafe or contain hazardous materials. Other times, the item costs more to transport, repair or refurbish than we can currently sustain. CCRx staff are trained to know what we can and cannot accept, and will help guide you to other possibilities for donations we cannot use.

Items we cannot accept include:

  • CRT and DLP TVs, or rear-projection flat screen HDTVs

  • Cribs or car seats

  • Walkers or other products that do not meet the current safety standards of the US Consumer Product Safety Commission, including recalled items

  • Household chemical products (pesticides, paint, paint thinner, drain cleaner, over cleaner, aerosols, and other environmentally-unfriendly waste products)

  • Automotive hazardous (tires, lead acid batteries, additives, gasoline, oils, antifreeze, etc.)

  • Large appliances (refrigerators, freezers, stoves/ovens, washers/dryers, air conditioners, dehumidifiers, furnaces, microwaves, trash compactors, water heaters, large console stereos, freon-based appliances, etc.)

  • Personal care items (shampoo, conditioner, nail polish remover, shaving cream, hairspray, shavers, curling irons, etc.)

  • Fragrance items

  • Mattresses/box springs, including waterbed mattresses and frames

  • Weapons (guns, bows and arrows, ammunition, hunting knives, etc.)

  • Phthalates (soft plastics)

  • Food
