About The Event
Earth Day is every day! Â You can make spectacular projects with your class using creative reuse materials from CCRx. Â
Changing Worlds Teaching Artist Cynthium Woodfolk-Johnson will guide you through the CCRx Treasure Chest of new and recycled materials and show how she makes spectacular three dimensional and two dimensional artwork that tells a story, conjures up a song, brings magic to the finished product.  These projects have been done with 3rd grade - 12th grade, and the ideas are key to the students coming up with their own design and execution.
Cynthium will review projects that she has done with teachers and middle school students which blend culture, personal identity and artmaking - You will see the actual work and then find your own materials for your next classroom project!
Cynthium Woodfolk- Johnson has worked in the Chicago Public Schools for over 20 years and most recently is a teaching artist for Changing Worlds . She blends poetry, dramatic spoken word and artmaking together in her work in classrooms . She is also an adjunct professor at Columbia College Chicago.  Â
Changing Worlds  mission is "to foster inclusive communities through oral history, writing and art programs that support student learning, affirm idenitity and enhance cross-cultural understanding."
