About The Event

CCRx invites representatives from the Safe and Peaceful Communities cohort to participate in one of 3 creative reuse workshops at our warehouse in Auburn-Gresham.

We at the CCRx believe that through creativity and the materials and tools around us, we can do almost anything -- including making places more peaceful and safe.

We invite 2 representatives from each Safe and Peaceful Cohort to visit our warehouse, explore creative reuse materials and learn techniques  to express ideas about safe and peaceful communities.   Have fun making things and sharing out, then bring some “creative reuse kits” back with you to host your own event.

CCRx's Creative Reuse Center is at 2124 W. 82nd Place, at the Envision Unlimited Frick Center.  We will work with up to 20 participants for each event (socially distanced, etc.).  The workshop will be Live Streamed and videotaped for online sharing post-event.  Creative Kits will be available at the event.

CCRx collects and distributes surplus supplies to teachers and nonprofits and promotes creative reuse through workshops and special events. Envision is a social service agency that supports adults with disabilities and CCRx works with their clients and staff.  In the past year, CCRx has hosted a variety of events here - open houses, giveaways, workshops - in which creative reuse of donated surplus is central to the activity.    One of our favorites was a workshop with the Chicago Park District for their staff to build “Fantasy Parks” out of creative reuse materials and then talk about them.  CCRx would like to expand this program that introduces our supplies and resources to the local community, and uses creative reuse and discussion to strengthen families and peaceful neighborhoods.
