About The Event

Reimagine surplus with us -- we'll be starting seeds for our gardens and making pots and planters.  .  Come lend a hand, learn, share and keep some for yourself!

Jah Brown (she/they) is a Black & Indigenous, queer, non-binary, proud Southside Chicago native. They are a neurodivergent advocate and multi-hyphenate creative and community organizer - with an extensive background in education, food justice, earth stewardship, spiritual hygiene, and community development. With over a decade of experience - Jah has organized all across Illinois, Philadelphia (where she attended Temple University), Oakland, Georgia, South Carolina, and Hawai’i. When they aren’t getting food into the community at their day job Brave Space Alliance, Jah is likely hosting Plant Medicine Workshops across the south and west sides of the city through her own non-profit Brown People Foundation. In addition, Jah is a certified Kundalini yoga instructor and lives by the mantra of “do no harm, take no sh*t”. She strives to work from a framework of empathy, compassion, and one that is solution-oriented and holistically focused.
