Small Art, Big Impact: Collage in Community with Amanda Murphayo
Make a whole new world through the old one!
Time & Location
Jul 18, 2026, 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM
Creative Chicago Reuse Exchange, 2124 W 82nd Pl, Chicago, IL 60620, USA
About The Event
Using artist trading card templates, participants will make 1-5 pieces of miniature collage art to share, exchange, swap, and publish in a chapbook. Collage is the practice of remaking something new out of something old. The constraints of the miniature collage format allow for the exploration of big ideas in this community class.
Participants are welcomed to bring any images or text that they would like to incorporate into their artwork.
Teaching collage workshops at CCrx, The Wasteshed and the New Carlisle Public Library, Amanda Murphyao has taught many Illinoisans the power of reuse in storytelling. Her ability to weave stories through the constraints of recycled materials landed her work in exhibitions at Elephant Room Gallery and Hyde Park Art Center. You can learn more about Amanda at their website or @murphyao.ink on Instagram.
All materials will be supplied by CCRx .
