Creative Reuse Team / Coordinator (Part-time)
20+ hours/week: 3 days on site: Wednesday, Thursday + Saturday + Off-Site Flex
$16.00/hour to start + generous material allowance
The Creative Chicago Reuse Exchange (CCRx) seeks an energetic, creative + responsible human with excellent organization, communication and making skills to fill a part-time operations position at our creative reuse warehouse and assist with workshops and events as needed on and off-site.
CCRx is a nonprofit organization that redistributes and ‘reimagines’ donated surplus materials, supplies and equipment. We foster creativity and sustainability through creative reuse workshops, programs, products, and events that target teachers, artists, nonprofits and community groups. The CCRx Warehouse is open Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. It is located on Chicago’s SW side, at 2124 W. 82nd Place, in the Envision Unlimited Frick Center. Envision supports adults with cognitive disabilities, and we interact with their members on a regular basis, providing activities and supplies.
Team Members organize and display our ever-changing inventory and to research and post special finds online. Regular tasks include opening/closing, customer service, sales transactions, guiding volunteers, and clean-up/staging. Team Members collaborate, multi-task, and prioritize. There are always things to do and curiosity is always rewarded.
Team members also participate in workshops and creative reuse events both on and off site, especially during the summer months.
Warehouse Duties may include, but are not limited to:
Greet and assist Donors, Teachers + Nonprofit “shoppers” at the warehouse;
Manage Volunteers on site, assign and oversee tasks;
Receive and process donations on site -- sometimes heavy boxes + skids;
Manage sales, appointments, and order fulfillment using Wix app;
Collaborate and communicate with CCRx Team on workflow and priorities;
Engage with Envision Unlimited staff and members via tasks and activities;
Participate in community outreach and special events;
Be an ambassador for CCRx in the Chicago community.
Applicant should:
Have a passion for creative reuse, a strong work ethic, and a willingness to learn and adapt to changing circumstances;

Be professional in written and verbal communication with multiple types of people online and in person;
Be a problem-solver, action-taker, multi-tasker who can focus on details and the big picture;
Be curious, kind, patient, and have a sense of humor.
Requirements:
A valid Driver’s License, insurance and good driving record.
Reliable transportation to and from the warehouse (CTA service varies)
Physical strength and mobility, including lifting, lowering, sliding donated materials up to 50 pounds as well as using a dolly or pallet jack with skids, loading or unloading trucks.
Computer skills including word processing and spreadsheets in Microsoft and Google Suites.
A smartphone that can be used for warehouse work.
Familiarity with or willingness to learn Wix inventory/website platform
Undergo a background check in accordance with state guidelines.
Preference will be given to individuals who have:
Experience as Educators, Artists, Makers and/or Fixers
Retail and/or e-commerce experience, ideally in a reuse/resale setting and/or with books, fabric, art/crafts, electronics, hardware, etc.
Managerial experience;
Graphic design, social media and/or website maintenance experience;
Familiarity with neighborhood assets on Chicago’s South and West sides
This position starts at 15-20 hours/week, including warehouse hours on Wednesday, Thursdays + Saturdays, and daily monitoring of donation inquiries. There is some scheduling flexibility, and additional hours, evenings, and special events will come up.
Pay starts at $16.00/hour for a 3-month training period, plus a generous material allowance. No other benefits currently available.
