Was art / music / theater / dance an important part of your development? We hope so! And we're letting you know that the Chicago Public School (CPS) Department of Arts Education is calling on the community to play an important role in the future of arts education in CPS as they embark on a 10 year plan for Arts Education.
They will host a series of roundtable discussions across the city for students, parents, teachers, school leaders, and arts partners.
Each meeting will be an opportunity to share experiences and aspirations for the future of arts education in the District. The feedback from these meetings will help identify needs and develop recommendations to enhance students’ educational well-being.
Parents, community members, and anyone interested in supporting arts education is encouraged to attend and share their experiences and concerns!

Ask Mayor Johnson to protect grant dollars for arts & culture in next year’s budgetSign the letter from Chicago's creative community before Sunday Sept 29 at 11:59pm |
Hi Barbara, We’ve seen a lot of momentum around the letter we drafted last week to Mayor Johnson calling for no additional cuts to grant dollars for arts and culture in Chicago. With nearly 500 signatures from individual creatives, organizations, and arts leaders, we’re extending the sign-on deadline to Sunday night at 11:59pm. During a public Cultural Advisory Council meeting on Tuesday, DCASE Commissioner Clinée Hedspeth committed to keeping the department’s grant dollars at their current levels in the coming year. By gathering as many signatures as possible, we hope to hammer home the need to continue supporting the artists and organizations that nurture our city’s creative soul, strengthen our economy, and foster a more inclusive Chicago. Your participation will go a long way in showing the city why we must avoid any further cuts. Sign the letter before our NEW deadline of Sunday, September 29 at 11:59pm. You’re welcome to sign on behalf of yourself and your organization, if applicable.   If you’ve already signed, thank you! Please forward this message to creative leaders, workers, and artists in your Chicago network to keep the momentum going. Share your StoryYour stories and experiences are critical to our shared advocacy. Do you have a story about what a grant from DCASE allowed you to do, or how not receiving a grant from DCASE impacted your work? Email Bindu Poroori, Interim Director of Community Organizing, at poroori@artsalliance.org. |
